Assembly process: as easy as that

Probably most of us would imagine a garden cabin construction as a complicated and time-consuming process? Not anymore. Nowadays log cabins, sheds, garages and carports as a rule come as DO IT YOURSELF kits: all the items are easy to assemble and come with comprehensive assembly instructions providing a step-by-step guide to installing the structures. It takes around 1-2 days for 2 persons to assemble an average size log cabin. To ensure the log cabin serves long, it is very important to erect it on the perfectly flat surface and to lay an appropriate foundation. There are several solutions for foundation: either to make a concrete base or to use PVC adjustable pedestals .PVC pedestals is an ideal solution for foundation as they are much more economical than concrete blocks and can be easily adjusted in height to compensate for uneven surface. PVC adjustable pedestals can be placed on any flat, solid surface. It is recommended to dig 20cm-deep holes and to fill them with gravel.

After foundation has been laid, it’s time to proceed to installation process by laying the bearers and placing wall-boards. The ends of wall-boards simply interlock while along the length the timbers are firmly fixed together thanks to tongue and groove system. Interlocking system employed in construction of log cabins has a lot of benefits as it ensures the structure’s rigidity, durability and good insulation properties while remaining a very simple construction method easy to comprehend for anybody. Once the wall-boards are assembled, it is easy to mount roof vaults, to insert rafters and to attach the roof-boards. Finally, it’s time to fit the windows and doors and to lay the floor-boards. All that’s left is to lay the felt roof shingles to the roof-boards which not only add a delicate aesthetic touch to your log cabin but also defend your place against the weather as it is long lasting, waterproof and UV resistant. To ensure the log cabin remains in great condition for a long time, it’s crucial to coat the inside and outside with a good quality preservative or paint and to treat all the boards of the roof. It’s highly recommended to reapply this process annually.
